ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ students Brealle Hasham and Isabella Makhoul made a significant impact at the prestigious 2024 [Ex]plore Conference, hosted annually by Macquarie University. The event brings together students, academics, and industry leaders to discuss groundbreaking research in science and engineering, with a focus on technology, sustainability, and social impact.
Isabella captivated the audience with her paper, "Assessing the Aquatic Environmental and Health Impacts of SOLBERG RE-HEALING Foam: A Comprehensive Analysis of Biodegradation and Aquatic Toxicity." Meanwhile, Brealle presented her innovative research on "Remediation of Niagara 3/3 (Firefighter Foam) Contaminated Waters Using Granular Activated Carbon Prepared from Spent Coffee Grounds." Both projects were conducted with the cooperation and support of NSW Fire and Rescue.
Brealle's outstanding presentation earned her the coveted Best Presentation award, and she was granted the rare honour of publishing her paper. This recognition underscores the exceptional quality of research, dedication, and hard work demonstrated by both students.
